ESS Group: Different destinations, one operating rhythm

ESS Group chose a shared approach to targets, visibility and daily decisions across a portfolio of deliberately different lifestyle destinations.

ESS Group’s destinations are designed to feel different.

Ellery Beach House, The Steam Hotel, Falkenberg Strandbad and Jacy’z Hotel & Resort each have their own setting, identity and guest experience. Behind that individuality, their leaders share the challenge of making timely decisions across multiple departments and revenue streams.

In January 2026, ESS Group decided to roll PMI out across its entire portfolio of lifestyle hotels and resorts in Scandinavia.

The implementation was intended to strengthen data visibility and productivity management, giving property leaders a clearer way to set targets, follow progress and respond to changing business activity.

What could be shared was the management rhythm.

Teams could work from clearer expectations, see how performance was developing and act while operational choices could still influence the outcome. Each property would apply that rhythm according to its own demand patterns, departments and guest proposition.

This connection between targets, visibility, daily decisions and performance is central to Profit Conversion Management™. It creates a continuous operating process rather than leaving each department to interpret changing business conditions in isolation.

That approach suited ESS Group because common discipline did not require uniform destinations. The creative and operational character of each property could remain distinct while leaders worked with a more consistent view of the business ahead.

For ESS, the portfolio decision was about giving its teams a shared basis for action. The same management rhythm could help one destination prepare for a busy resort weekend and another respond to changing demand across rooms, food and beverage or events.

The portfolio was designed around difference. PMI was chosen to give those different destinations common visibility and a common discipline for turning information into daily decisions.
