Expands Access to Game-Changing Performance Navigation Solution for Hotels and Resorts
U.S. Expansion and New Leadership
FT. LAUDERDALE, FL and OSLO, NORWAY (December 13, 2011) – d2o, the innovator of performance navigation for the hospitality industry, announced the addition of two industry veterans to its U.S. operation: Eric Orkin and Bernard Ellis.
Performance Navigation for Hotels
d2o’s performance navigation is a new category of software-as-a-service for hospitality. It delivers real-time revenue and productivity management for hotels and resorts. With it, operators can balance fluctuating supply and demand across multiple service and F&B departments.
With Performance Management Intelligence (PMI), department heads see business-on-the-books data and real-time progress against goals. They can quickly adjust forecasts to reflect changing market conditions. As a result, teams align staffing and purchasing with current demand. At the same time, senior management gains visibility into which departments are on track — and which need coaching.
CEO on Expansion
“As we expanded into the U.S., we wanted to tap innovators who had redefined the market before,” said Founder and CEO Young Nguyen, who relocated from Norway to lead the effort. “Eric and Bernard stood out for their deep industry knowledge and their ability to turn technology into positive outcomes for hoteliers.”
Eric Orkin Joins as Chief of Research and Development
As Chief of Research and Development, Eric Orkin will advance d2o’s offerings with more sophisticated forecasting science. He will also adapt the technology to U.S. market needs. Orkin, founder of Delphi Management Systems and OPUS2 Revenue Technologies, has helped shape today’s hotel performance practices. He has consulted with leading global brands and earned recognition as an industry thought leader. A member of the HFTP Hospitality Technology Hall of Fame, he studied at Cornell’s School of Hotel Administration and earned an MBA from Wharton.
“Performance navigation is a new concept for hotels — and truly game-changing,” said Orkin. “It shifts performance management from deadline-driven reporting to a continuous process that integrates with daily workflows.”
Bernard Ellis Joins as Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing
Bernard Ellis will lead U.S. sales and marketing. With 20 years of experience in revenue management, distribution, and operations, he connects with hoteliers at both strategic and tactical levels. Most recently, Ellis was Managing Director for the Americas at IDeaS. Under his leadership, the company expanded rapidly and was later acquired by SAS. Previously, he held senior roles at Micros-Fidelio and SynXis, now part of Sabre Hospitality Solutions, where he built a base of more than 6,500 hotels. He graduated from the College of William and Mary and earned a master’s degree from Cornell’s School of Hotel Administration.
“d2o’s solutions bring a new paradigm,” said Ellis. “Continuous reforecasting will become second nature for department managers as they respond in real time. What was once only the revenue manager’s job — dynamic performance management — will now be embraced enterprise-wide, helping eliminate waste.”
