SMARTER Goal Distribution: Turning Ambitious Goals into Achievable Action

Annual reduction targets can feel vague and overwhelming. For example, reducing energy per room night from 158 to 100 kWh, or water from 850 to 550 liters, is hard for hoteliers to act on. Amid daily tasks, it is easy to lose motivation without clear, specific short-term goals.

Recognizing this challenge, Strawberry partnered with d2o to design SMARTER Goal Distribution. This model translates multi-year group reduction goals into monthly targets that are ambitious yet achievable. It factors in building modernity, seasonal demand, past performance, and services such as pools, spas, or conference centers.

Unlike equal distribution of goals across hotels and months, SMARTER Goal Distribution ensures fairness and reasonableness in setting targets.

This feature empowers head offices to adjust monthly targets per property using hotel-specific data and metrics. As a result, hotels get targets that inspire progress while remaining realistic.

The model automatically readjusts monthly targets. It accounts for reductions achieved so far and changes in the portfolio, such as acquisitions or divestitures. This ensures the committed overall goals remain intact.

Additionally, PMI GoGreen eliminates manual spreadsheet work. It improves accuracy and efficiency in target tracking and reduces the risk of errors.

By applying SMARTER Goal Distribution, Strawberry sets and tracks monthly goals effectively. This approach drives progress and strengthens compliance with the UN Sustainability Development Goals on climate action.
