How to link KPI targets to a cockpit

What are KPI targets?

Key performance indicators (KPIs) can be used to track your performance, as an alternative to using a budget. By comparing KPIs to actual results and the Live forecast, you can see if you are on or behind pace to reach your yearly goal.

KPIs can be displayed in the relevant cockpits to help track daily performance. To display KPI targets in cockpits, the KPI targets module in PMI must be activated. Contact your PMI contact for more details on how to do this.

How to link KPIs

The KPI must be linked to each cockpit for targets to be displayed.

To do this, go to:

  • KPI module > Settings > Select KPI’s to be displayed in Cockpits.

Setting the KPIs at chain level ensures consistency and uniformity across all properties. Only when a property differs from the chain standard should the KPI be set at property level.

Select a KPI

Set the KPI for hours or productivity, based on the locked target setting in the cockpit.

  • On chain level, a KPI must be selected for productivity or hours for each department.
  • On property level, the target which was locked in the cockpit is set for each department.

* Deselecting ‘Use chain settings’ will enable settings on property level.

The settings chosen will define what will be displayed in the target graph in the cockpit.

Hours and productivity targets explained

Target locked on hours

For targets locked on hours there are three KPIs that can be selected:

  1. Hours per day
  2. Hours per working day
  3. Hours per FTE (Full Time Equivalent)

These KPIs are either daily or hourly values and converted to yearly values displayed in the cockpit.

To get yearly values:

  1. Hours per day are multiplied by the days in the year (365).
  2. Hours per working day are multiplied by the working days as per the FTE module .
  3. Hours per FTE are multiplied by working days/month and working hours per day.

Target locked on productivity

For targets locked on Productivity, the cost driver for that department will be divided by the KPI selected.

For example, in Housekeeping, where the primary cost driver is Room nights (previous day), the KPI selected should be Rooms per hour (Previous day).
